Awesome 2009
Sep 22, 2009 @ 11:01 PM
And then Dad drove all of us to Malacca after his "Sembahyang Hari Raya" (sorry i dont noe how to translate) to spend the first day of Syawal over at Grandma's Bungalow. Okay, it might sound a bit leceh because just thinking of the loooooooooonnngg journey, the lalats in Machap, the sucky radio channels, over and over same Hari Raya songs....and what-nots..just wanna make all of us go "Ohhh, Maaann!!". But it started to make sense; well, at least to me. (I beg to differ). Im putting myself in my dad's shoes. What if, in the future, my kids throw faces at me if I wanna go visit my parents somewhere far (God knows where they might be staying at, right?) Only then, will I feel exactly what my Dad felt. But, thankfully, journey was smooth, traffic was not really a bitch, and we were pretty much absorbed in our own world. :) It was almost six in the evening when we reached Malacca, and of coz, pretty much as always, food was already served. But I just couldnt start eating yet coz I was waiting for fried chicken wing!! And then shortly after the BURP! session............. That was the most fun-filled night of my life, i guess. It was just sooo great to be young again, playful, carefree, and without causes of any known stress; well only at that point of time. That's my mum's keluang-man top, by the way. We lit up this huge bag of fire crackers, with so many shapes and sizes. And there was like, this kind of awesome thing that spins like a top, and then it just kinda broke into tiny flames for some 5 seconds or so. That was soooo amazing, like totalleh!! Just look at me hahaha. And then it was time to hit the road again, back to Singapore. After the routine "Selamat Hari Raya, Maaf Zahir Batin, Halal Makan Minum" to each other, (which we sisters don't really mean it when we say to each other, LOL), we bade our goodbyes. I grabbed my cousin's shawl and then wrapped it around my head, just for the kick of it. Haha! But i think I kinda looked.......Good. OMG, are you kidding me? And I almost forgot, we brought home a bag of clothes, really vintage ones- literally, which belonged to our aunts when they were young. It was all carefully sewn painstakingly by my grandma, so you can't really find them elsewhere, like totalleh, OMG I just cant describe how beautiful those clothes are, and i promise to snap pictures of those clothes soon!!
